M. Darren Root, CPA.CITP, is the Executive Editor of The CPA Technology Advisor, and also remains in public practice as the principal of Root & Associates, LLC, in Bloomington, Indiana. He is also President of RootWorks, a consulting practice that helps professional accounting firms implement technologies and best practices.

Root serves on the Board of the AICPA’s CITP Credentials Committee and is a  former member of the Board of Directors for the Indiana CPA Society.

He is a  respected thought leader in the profession, speaking at dozens of professional  organizations each year and frequently serves as a guest lecturer at Indiana  University’s Kelley School of Business.

obannonbioshot1 Issac O’Bannon :

Isaac M. O’Bannon is the Senior Technology Editor and digital content manager for The CPA Technology Advisor, having joined the publication in June 2002.

Through his experience in the areas of consumer and professional-level software and peripherals, as well as knowledge of the public accounting field, O’Bannon provides reviews of technologies used by accountants and their business clients. Through his monthly column, Tricks & Tips, he also provides readers with information ranging from improving search techniques, when to upgrade a computer and computing security issues.

Prior to The CPA Technology Advisor, Isaac provided public relations counsel while at agencies in San Francisco, Denver, Kansas City and Tulsa, with clients including Logitech, Polycom, Hilti, Microsoft, the Stanford Research Institute, the University of Oklahoma’s College of Engineering and other technology leaders.

O’Bannon also served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee Equipment Operator from 1990 to 1995, having deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Okinawa, Japan; Puerto Rico; and other locations, attaining non-commissioned officer rank. Following his military service, Isaac received undergraduate and graduate journalism degrees from the University of Oklahoma.

Mr. McClure is an authority on strategic business planning, telecommuting, technology policy and technology integration for businesses.  He consults with telecommunications and broadband companies nationwide, and with policy organizations and government around the world.  His Bleeding Edge column has appeared in print since 1994.

In 2004 he was honored with a Cornerstone Award for leadership in the Broadband Internet industry, and in 2007 was named to the Board of Directors of the Universal Service Administrative Corporation.  An author for numerous accounting magazines and business web sites, he makes his home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.

Scott H. Cytron, ABC, is an accredited consultant working with clients in professional services. With more than 27 years in the communications profession, Scott formed Cytron and Company in 1996 to advise professionals how to achieve the correct message with the greatest impact. He has served IABC in a number of leadership positions, including four years on IABC’s International Board of Directors with two years as secretary/treasurer. He is a past director of the Southern Region and a past member of IABC’s Accreditation Council. He was president of the Dallas Chapter in 2000, and is the recipient of two Gold Quill Awards.

John Anderson, CPA.CITP, CIA, MCP, MSA :

John D. Anderson is the Information Technology Services Group Manager at a large, local CPA firm in Ann Arbor, MI., where he manages 10 different servers and 25 desktop computers. His experience includes Citrix, Windows 2000 Server, Internet Information Services, Lotus Notes/Domino, Cisco Pix, SonicWall, and Trend Micro NeaTSuite products as well as dozens of accounting software packages used by CPA firms and their clients. He joined the firm after completing a Masters Degree in Accounting from Eastern Michigan University.

He also serves as a lecturer at national computer user meetings and is very well respected for his activity on ARNE [the Accountants Resource Network], an Internet bulletin board system sponsored by Thomson Creative Solutions.
