This year’s vendor’s-only Awards reception had a little Spanish flair with themed invitations and shrimp and chicken tacos. The reception started around 4:00, with the presentation of awards beginning around 4:45. Rachael Monroe, publisher of The CPA & NSA Technology Advisor, began by welcoming everyone, introducing the members of the CPATA team who were in attendance, and sharing a little about the history of the awards. She then handed things over to Darren Root, CPA.CITP, executive editor of The CPA & NSA Technology Advisor. Darren recognized each of this year’s winners one by one and invited representatives from each to take a few minutes to share about their products. Each award recipient expressed their appreciation for the efforts that have gone into recognizing what is being done in the vendor community that serves the tax and accounting profession, realizing that we all play a part in continuing the drive to create tools and products that improve productivity and profitability for practitioners. One special note was also mentioned when Chandra Bhansali credited his wife with much of the efforts and hard work that had enabled AccountantsWorld to receive their award, sharing with the audience that it was one of the best anniversary presents they had ever received since they had just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary the day before.
Also of special note is the fact that CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business and Thomson Reuters, both winners this year, have been recognized with awards and/or honorable mentions seven times in seven years.
